Langtang Region Trekking

Langtang region Trek takes us into some of the wildest and most scenic areas of Nepal from the fertile rice basins of TRISULI to the dense forests of rhododendron and conifer on the higher slopes, the high alpine Yak pastures, glaciers and moraines around Kyangin gompa. The remote holy Lakes at Gosainkunda along the route we experience the whole range of Himalayan topography. The area, lies in the Himalayan National Park and still relatively undisturbed, supports a healthy population of wildlife and there are good chances of seeing various species of wild goat and deer, possibly even better. Bird and botanical life are equally impressive all set against the backdrop of the magnificent Mountains. The Langtang valley is mostly inhabited by Tibetans, some Khampa refugees and the lower part by Tamangs. If the traveller to the Kathmandu valley finds the skies clear and stops to lift her eyes from the busy roads of Kathmandu to the northern horizon she will see the lofty snow covered mountains of the Ganesh Himal. Separating the Ganesh Himal from the Langtang, Jugal and Rolwaling Himal is the Trisuli valley, but the eyes see these mighty Himalayas as a sharp jagged wall of snowy peaks. The Langtang National Park was established in 1976 and is Nepal’s second largest national park, the first being the Shey-Phoksumdo in the Dolpo region of west Nepal. The park is rich in bird life, mammals and over 1000 varieties of plants. The spring season brings a mass of bright colours created mostly by the extravagant display of rhododendron flowers.
