Koshi Tappu was established as a wildlife reserve in 1976 with an aim to protect the last remaining population of Asiatic Wild Buffaloes in Nepal. The reserve has a total area of 175 sq. km consisting of wetlands, grasslands and small patches of forest. The reserve has recorded around 439 species of bird and is a homeland to the endangered Gharial crocodile, Gangetic dolphin, ducks, herons, storks, egrets, and ibis.
Day 01: Depart Kathmandu
Eearly flight to Biratnagar Airport which takes 50 minutes and then around a 1 hour transfer to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp. On arrival at the resort a briefing will be given to explain facilities and the programme of events and activities available during your stay.
Activities can include: nature walks, bird watching, raft trip on the sapta Koshi River.
Day 02: Koshi Tappu Reserve
Early morning wake up call. The day includes more activities and a short drive to the Koshi Barrage to bird watch and hopefully spot some fresh water dolphins.
Day 03: Koshi Tappu Reserve – Biratnagar Airport - Kathmandu
Return by air to Kathmandu. Drop off as required or continue with other activities.
